This customer has separate locations for growing lettuce and packaging pre-made salads. The lettuce is grown in California and then trucked to Ontario, Canada. Complete traceability is recorded via a shared, central database between the locations. This eliminates duplicate data input and ensures data accuracy. Production information at the Ontario packaging plant is automatically recorded via packaging machine PLC interfaces. TraceAll then interfaces with packaging printers to record lot number and Best Before Dates. Future enhancements will print and apply a 2D barcode (QR code) that will allow consumers to scan the product barcode with their smart phones and be directed to a product specific website. They will find specific traceability information as well as product use and recipe information!
